Strawberry Matcha Oats Mason Jars (Print)

Layers of strawberries, earthy matcha, and creamy oats make a vibrant breakfast in jars.

# Components:

→ Oats Base

01 - 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
02 - 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
03 - 1/2 cup Greek yogurt, plain or vanilla
04 - 2 tablespoons chia seeds
05 - 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
06 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
07 - Pinch of salt

→ Matcha Layer

08 - 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder
09 - 2 tablespoons hot water
10 - 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk

→ Strawberry Layer

11 - 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and diced
12 - 2 teaspoons lemon juice
13 - 1 to 2 teaspoons maple syrup or honey

# Directions:

01 - In a medium mixing bowl, combine rolled oats, almond milk, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
02 - In a small bowl, whisk matcha powder with hot water until completely dissolved and smooth. Add almond milk and stir to combine.
03 - In another bowl, combine diced strawberries with lemon juice and maple syrup. Gently mash approximately half of the strawberries to create a chunky sauce, leaving the remaining pieces in whole or partially diced form.
04 - Divide half of the oat mixture evenly between two mason jars, distributing the base layer equally.
05 - Layer the strawberry mixture over the oat base in each jar, reserving a few strawberry pieces for garnish on top.
06 - Combine the remaining oat mixture with the matcha blend, stirring until the mixture achieves a smooth, uniform consistency. Layer this matcha-infused oat mixture over the strawberries in both jars.
07 - Top each jar with reserved strawberry pieces. Secure lids tightly on the mason jars.
08 - Refrigerate the sealed jars for a minimum of 8 hours or overnight to allow the oats to soften and flavors to meld.
09 - Remove from refrigerator, stir gently to combine layers, and consume chilled directly from the jar or transfer to a bowl.

# Chef Secrets:

01 -
  • You get to build something beautiful the night before and actually enjoy breakfast without the chaos.
  • That first spoonful tastes like a fancy café treat, except you made it in your pajamas.
  • The matcha gives you sustained energy instead of the crash that follows regular coffee.
02 -
  • Whisking matcha with water first is not optional—matcha clumps ruthlessly if you skip this step and you'll end up chewing little grains of sadness.
  • Don't mash all the strawberries into oblivion; keeping some pieces whole gives you texture surprises and prevents everything from turning into a solid brick.
03 -
  • Mason jars are your best friend here, but use wide-mouth jars if you can—eating with a regular spoon from a narrow jar is an unnecessary frustration that ruins the whole vibe.
  • Make four jars at once instead of two; they last about five days in the fridge and having breakfast ready actually changes how your mornings feel.
