04 - 1/2 cup vegetable oil
→ Jello Filling
05 - 1 box (3 oz) cherry gelatin
06 - 1 cup boiling water
07 - 1/2 cup cold cherry cola soda
→ Topping
08 - 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
09 - 1/4 cup powdered sugar
10 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
11 - 1 cup maraschino cherries, stems removed and sliced
# Directions:
01 - Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
02 - In a large bowl, whisk together chocolate cake mix, eggs, cherry cola soda, and vegetable oil until the mixture is smooth.
03 - Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool for 15 minutes.
04 - Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes evenly across the surface of the cooled cake, spacing holes about 1 inch apart.
05 - In a bowl, dissolve cherry gelatin in boiling water, stirring thoroughly. Mix in cold cherry cola soda and let the mixture cool for 5 minutes.
06 - Carefully pour the cooled gelatin mixture evenly over the cake, ensuring it fills the holes.
07 - Cover and refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour or until the gelatin is set.
08 - Beat heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract using an electric mixer until stiff peaks form.
09 - Spread whipped cream evenly over the chilled cake. Garnish with sliced maraschino cherries. Slice and serve chilled.
